Day by Day Itinerary - Explore Tanzania Safari 6 days

Arusha on Day 1

Our representative will greet you as you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Then it’s on to Arusha, which is about a 40-minute drive away. Check into the hotel and relax for the remainder of the day. Spend the night at Lake Duluti Lodge or another similar establishment.

Tarangire National Park/Arusha on Day 2

Your Tanzania wildlife safari adventure begins today with a drive to Tarangire, Tanzania’s third largest national park, in your 4×4 customized safari vehicle. Upon arrival, travel through the rolling countryside in search of endangered black rhinos, antelope, leopards, lions, and cheetahs, as well as other Tarangire wildlife. Following that, drive to your lodge, the Tarangire Sopa Lodge, and check into your comfortable accommodations. (B, L, and D)

Tarangire National Park on Day 3

On our morning Tanzanian walking safari, where your naturalist guides will point out elephants and some of the park’s 260 recorded bird species, you will be treated to a delightful surprise as sunrise sweeps across the savannah. During your escorted afternoon game drive, you’ll be on the lookout for migrating herds of wildebeest, zebra, and Grant’s gazelle. Return to Tarangire Sopa Lodge for the evening. (B, L, and D)

On the fourth day, Tarangire/Lake Manyara National Park/Karatu

Your Tanzania wildlife safari expedition itinerary takes you across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park, which is known for its elephant herds and tree-climbing lions. On game drives in this area, buffalo, baboons, waterbuck, flamingos, and lion prides can all be seen. Continue into Karatu’s highlands after leaving Manyara Park.

Day 05: Drive to Karatu/Lake Eyasi

70 km to Lake Eyasi, Tanzania’s largest soda lake, at the southern end of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Hadzape Bushmen, a traditional hunting tribe with a “click” language, live in this remote region. After their daily hunt, they spend time with the tribe and learn about their lives in this little-known area. Before heading back to the Ngorongoro Farmhouse, we stopped for a picnic lunch by the lake. (B, L, and D)

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater/Karatu National Park

Before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, the world’s largest unflooded caldera, stop for a delicious breakfast at the Farmhouse (a collapsed cone of a volcano). The abundance of food and fresh water in the Ngorongoro Crater supports more than 30,000 large mammals, and it is protected from the outside world by a massive rim. You’ll descend 2,000 feet into the crater for thrilling game drives among Africa’s “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard), as well as a search for the rare black rhino – the Ngorongoro crater provides the best chance to see the East African black rhino in East Africa. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor in the middle of the day before continuing our journey and checking into the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or similar (B, L, and D).

Serengeti National Park and Olduvai Gorge on Day 7

On Day 7 of your Tanzania wildlife safari, you’ll travel to the Serengeti, stopping along the way at Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakey family discovered the earliest evidence of human existence in the late 1950s. The Serengeti National Park’s “endless plains” are home to the world’s greatest concentration of large mammals, and your frequent game drives will give you the opportunity to see massive herds. Serena Lodge is where you’ll spend the next three nights, positioned as close as possible to the animals (B, L, and D).

Serengeti National Park on days 8 and 9

Daily game drives through the acacia savannahs and grasslands of the Serengeti National Park are included in your exciting Tanzania wildlife safari tour itinerary. On these exciting excursions, you can see wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, topi, impala, and hartebeest, as well as predators like lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, and wild dog.Hippos and crocodiles may be found along the network of rivers and lakes. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn more about your expert driver/guides and the staff at the lodge, friendly locals who strive to make your African safari come alive. (On a daily basis, B, L, and D)

Day 10: Serengeti/Arusha

If time allows, you will be treated to a final game drive on our Tanzania wildlife safari adventure before driving back to Arusha or flying from the local airstrip to Arusha on a scheduled flight. You may have time upon arrival in Arusha to visit Shanga, a workshop that uses recycled materials to create beautiful handmade beads, paper, candles, soaps, and home decor. Following lunch, you will be given a dayroom to freshen up before being transferred to the airport for your return flight.
